Obama Marks His Territory

From ABC News (via TPM):
President Obama announced today that his administration will begin stamping an emblem on projects funded by the economic stimulus package so that people can easily recognize the effects of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

All projects will be stamped with the ARRA logo (short for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) and lists the recovery.gov website on the emblem.

Here's what the emblems will look like:

Seems like a waste of money to me. But it makes sense politically. Obama is basically covering the country with permanent signs advertising for his reelection campaign in 2012.

(I got the inspiration for this post's title from the UI Advocates for Liberty blog.)

Palin 2012

The UK's Times reports:
Palin, 44, has led the character attacks on Obama in the belief that McCain may be throwing away the election and her chance of becoming vice-president. Her supporters think that if the Republican ticket loses on November 4, she should run for president in 2012.

A leading Republican consultant said: “A lot of conservatives are grumbling about what a poor job McCain is doing. They are rolling their eyes and saying, ‘Yes, a miracle could happen, but at this rate it is all over’.

“Sarah Palin is no fool. She sees the same thing and wants to salvage what she can. She is positioning herself for the future. Her best days could be in front of her. She wants to look as though she was the fighter, the person with the spunk who was out there taking it to the Democrats.”

I overflow with glee at the thought of Sarah Palin becoming the Republican nominee for president in 2012. Obama would be reelected by such an enormous margin that the Republicans would have no choice but to change or die. Perhaps at long last the far-right crazies who don't care about anything but fetuses and sodomy would find themselves out on the street. Maybe, just maybe, sane fiscal conservatives would then have a shot at taking back the party. If so, I'd be happy to consider voting for their candidate in 2016.
