A former sex offender won an Alaskan lottery; the catch is that the money from the lottery was raised to help victims of sexual abuse.
Mr. Ahsoak, the winner, was last convicted of a sex crime in 2000 (his second offense of sexual abuse of a minor). Perhaps he has been reformed. I'm not certain of the sex offender laws in Alaska, but in Iowa his hopes to buy a new house would be severely limited.
Alaska has the highest per capita number of rape cases in the United States, according to FBI statistics.
Governor Sarah Palin must be proud.
