Are we going to wake up November 7th and look back at today as the day the wheels completely came off the straight talk express?
We've had an Obama/McCain debate, now it's time for the hockey mom and the punchy old statesman to have at it. It's possible Palin may have a decent outing, seeing as expectations are so incredibly low, it might not take much to salvage a modicum of respect. On the other hand, it's also very much more likely that that modicum will be so much smudge and detritus smeared all over the heel of Joe Biden's shoe.
Palin needs to stick to substantive policy points and avoid discussing her history in Alaska or her (not so) extensive knowledge of Supreme Court decisions. She needs to stay away from talk about foreign leaders (there are others besides Putin, evidently) and dodge questions regarding the bridge to nowhere. She should brush past any personal attacks and leave be any questioning by Biden that she's incredibly underqualified and thinks about as well on her feet as Bush on acid in a dark room filled with mousetraps.
She should just not go, actually. That'd be easier.
Then again, there's a reason why they have these things. We'll see how it plays out.

I just hope that Biden calls her out on not actually answering the questions that are asked. He doesn't even need to go into the interviews she has done so far, because I'm sure she won't answer anything at the debate either. He should just start each response with "Since my opponent hasn't answered the question, I will do so."
You must not watch political debates often Chris, and you must not have been paying good enough attention when you covered the last one.
Here's a shocker: Palin's not going to say, "K, you got me guys. I'm an incredibly unqualified mooseburger-eater and I'm officially dropping out of the race tonight to go back home and secede from the Union."
Welcome to real life. She's going to go up there and smile and posture and parrot the same old lines we've heard for months. And Biden is going to do the same, and she's going to get a bigger bump with the general public because she looks better on TV.
The same thing has happened over and over, ad infinitum, since 1960.
Taco says: "You must not watch political debates often Chris"
Taco, I've dealt with your garbage for a long time now. I have no problem with you commenting on our stories, and I even appreciate your (constant) criticism of our horrible (so horrible yet you continue to read it) little paper, but pay attention. Chris didn't write that post, I did. I know you'd love if he did, because you seem obsessed with ridiculing him (among others) for every thing that comes out of his head, but your aim is off, my friend.
Sorry, I stopped reading the "Posted by" line when it started being followed by "Cristopher Patton" 99.9% of the time over the last three months.
Much as I've tried, it's very difficult for Chrisopher Patton to be lazy. Sorry his pace is too much for you. I'll have him slow down.
